I made a trip to Ulta over the weekend, looking for a full coverage foundation and concealer. I gravitated towards the NARS section, as they are known for their full coverage, and I tried out the Radiant Creamy Concealer and Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. They were absolutely gorgeous but together would cost $80 before tax. I wouldn’t have a problem with this if they were known to last longer. I wear makeup pretty much every day so it can get expensive to have to replace a $30 concealer so often. So, I decided I would search for a good dupe!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is one of the most popular concealers on the market. It was released in early 2013 and has been a staple in nearly all makeup routines since. Not only is this concealer great for medium-to-full coverage looks, but it also has hydrating properties. Sometimes my undereye can be very dry, so I always make sure that I buy hydrating concealers (especially since I like to let my concealer dry down for a few minutes before blending it out.) When I first applied this product, I absolutely fell in love! It looks so natural, yet so glam. But, before I committed to a $30 concealer, I figured I would see if I could find something really similar; plus, who doesn’t like to save money!
What really drew me to this concealer on the display, was the shade Walnut. I have a weird undertone and it may change depending on what I’m wearing that day. The shade Walnut is a rich golden, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Since I have both cool and warm undertones, I typically will apply a cool foundation and use a warm concealer to balance everything out. Now, since this concealer is such a unique color, I literally struggled to find a dupe for this shade… that is until I stumbled across the Neutrogena Radiant Cream Concealer
Neutrogena Radiant Cream Concealer
I was super excited to try this concealer. As soon I spotted it in Walmart, I knew it would be almost a dead match to NARS’ walnut! The packaging of this concealer is pretty similar to the NARS, but the wand is flat on both sides which is actually my preference. The ‘Radiant Cream’ also reminded of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer because of the name (an obvious dead giveaway, right).
Before I purchased the concealer, I figured I should read online reviews to see if it would be worth testing. Surprisingly, there weren’t many reviews on this product and no one seemed to associate it with the NARS Radiant Creamy, so this was the perfect opportunity to put you, ladies, onto something new! I actually grabbed two shades, Golden Medium and Toffee Medium. The toffee medium is a little too bright but looks great on top of the golden medium for some added brightness.
Since I have been using the concealer with different foundations and powders for nearly a week now, I can finally give you my final verdict. But first, here is a list of pros and cons for the Neutrogena Concealer:
- Super Affordable ($13)
- Available at majority drugstores
- Applies very smooth and creamy
- Consistency isn’t too thick but provides lots of coverage
- Wand holds a lot of product so you don’t have to keep dipping into the container
- Pairs well with any foundation and powder
- Since it is a drugstore product, you won’t be able to test before buying
- Not all drugstores carry all shades so you might have to order online
Overall, I would give this concealer a 9/10! It definitely compares to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and is highly accessible and affordable! Splurging on a new concealer is nice every now and then, but having an affordable backup when you need to is even nicer!!
P.S. I’ve attached a link to the concealer on Amazon just in case this concealer sells out quickly and you aren’t able to find it in stores! I’ve also attached pictures so that you can see what the concealer looks like in different lighting!
